Mansfield, Cheryl Lynn Floyd-O’Bryant, 62, of Mansfield passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at home after an extended illness. Born on March 21, 1959, in Mansfield, OH, to the late Albert Dean Small and Conuse Alice Scott Haley, Cheryl graduated in 1977, from Malabar High School. Cheryl later received formal training as a cake decorator and as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Cheryl followed her mother’s footsteps as a renowned baker and cook, making everything from scratch. Cheryl ran a catering business for many years, selling her delicious meals, and specialty cakes in Mansfield and the surrounding area. Cheryl excelled as a cake decorator and could easily transform a photo into a cake that people would rave about for weeks, and many in Mansfield sought Cheryl out to make cakes for special occasions. Cheryl also had a special knack for caring for those in need. Cheryl cared for her mother for several years and as a Certified Nurse Practitioner, Cheryl helped clients from Mansfield to Ashland that required complex patient care. Many of Cheryl’s clients became like family to her. In her spare time, Cheryl made beautiful floral arrangements and she willingly shared her interior design talents with others. She leaves to cherish in her memory her brother, Edward D. Small, of Mansfield; sister, Annette Brownlee, of Odenton, MD; nephews, Jason (Sugarr) Small, of Middletown, DE, Caesar(Lugenia), Small, of Avon, OH, and Christopher Cameron, of Crofton, MD; niece, Yolunda (Shaun) Mayo, of Dayton, OH; uncle, Calvin Cannada, of Mansfield; aunts, Ann (Leon) Jefferson and Corrine Scott, of Mansfield; a host of relatives and friends. Cheryl is preceded in death by her husbands, Elder Franklin O'Bryant and Calvin Floyd, Sr; daughter, Trina Lynn Floyd; son, Calvin Floyd, Jr., and her parents. A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Maddox Memorial COGIC, 1148 Walker Lake Rd, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. Masks are required. Elder Aaron Williams Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mansfield Cemetery. The family would like to thank the many people that prayed for and supported Cheryl during her illness. We would like to send a special thank you to Juanita Phillips, Ray Scott, Anthony (Carol) Scott, Patsy McGhee, Helen Porter, Robert Tanner, and the staff at Kingston of Ashland. We would not have made it this far without your support. The family has entrusted Small's Funeral Services with the arrangements.
