Friends, family, and members of our community, we gather here today to honor the life and legacy of Luvenia Morris, a remarkable woman whose presence touched the hearts of many. Luvenia was born in Pensacola, Florida on July 15, 1936 to Clarence and Mary Lee Sampson. Her journey on this earth came to an end on June 15, 2024, here in Mansfield, Ohio. Luvenia’s story is one of resilience, faith, and unwavering commitment. She became a proud resident of Mansfield in 1974, and from that moment, she left an indelible mark on our community. Her dedication to service was evident in every role she undertook. Luvenia worked tirelessly as a supervisor in dietary services at Mansfield General Hospital until her retirement. Her commitment to ensuring the well-being of others extended beyond the hospital walls. She understood that nourishment went beyond physical sustenance—it was about caring for the whole person. Luvenia’s spiritual journey was equally profound. She served with unwavering devotion as a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Mansfield. Her leadership roles included serving as the president of the usher board and member of the hospitality committee. Luvenia’s warm smile and welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home within those church walls. Luvenia was also a member of the International F. & A.M. Masons and Order of Eastern Stars. She served faithfully for 29 years striving to make a positive difference in the world through charitable works, lasting friendships, and kindness. Luvenia’s heart overflowed with love for her family. She was the proud mother of six children, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her legacy lives on through them: Matthew Harris Jr., Janice (Cleo) Smith , Lorenzo “Amos” McDaniel, and Special Children, (grandchildren whom she raised), Tiffany ( Alan) Mitchell, Sierra McDaniel, and Deonte (Cierra) McDaniel. She shared a special bond with her great-grandchildren: Aliya and Alana Mitchell, Deonte McDaniel Jr., Reginald, Rierra, and Rodney Arrington. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Mary Lee Sampson, Husband, Henry Morris, sister Bernice Porter, brothers, Clarence, Miles, and Issac Sampson Children, Lisa McDaniel, Sheila-Anne McDaniel, and Anthony Leverette. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Jean (Melvin) Johnson, Annie Mae Patterson, brother Larnce “Unice” (Eladies) Sampson, a host of nieces, nephews, other grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. as well as friends who will cherish her memory. Luvenia Morris taught us the value of service, compassion, and community. Her legacy reminds us that our time on this earth is precious, and it is how we touch the lives of others that truly matters. As we say our goodbyes, let us celebrate her life, honor her memory, and carry forward the lessons she imparted. May Luvenia rest in eternal peace, knowing that her kindness and love continues to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. The services will be held Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11 am, with one-hour prior calling to the services at Shiloh Baptist Church, 130 E. 2nd St., Mansfield, Ohio, with Bishop William Morris officiating. The Committal Services will follow immediately after the services. The family will be receiving family and friends at the home of the granddaughter, Tiffany Mitchell, 451 Overlook Rd., Mansfield, Ohio, Wednesday and Thursday, from 4 – 6 pm. In lieu of flowers the family are requesting Lowe’s Gift Cards to help with Ms. Luvenia Morris’s home repairs. The family has entrusted Small’s Funeral Services with the arrangements.
