Juanita B. Deener

Mansfield - Juanita Barbara Deener entered this world September 3, 1936 in Louise, MS, She was the first of twelve children born to Malachi Jones and Persephone Marie Miller-Jones. She was raised in Louise, MS and accepted the Lord at an early age. In February, 1952, Juanita moved to Mansfield, Ohio. She became a member of Temple of Faith Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the Elder L. G. Maddox; church now called Maddox Memorial Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Aaron Williams Sr. She was a very active member in the radio choir, directed the Junior Choir and also a member of Junior and Senior Mothers board. She was noted for her singing throughout the State of Ohio and was nicknamed “The Songbird of Temple of Faith”. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories a son, Timothy (Vonte) Deener, of Mansfield; seven sisters, LaDorothy Hunter, of Memphis, Tenn, Joyce (Elder Albert) Twyman, Annie Lucille Cannada, Esther (Robert) Clark, Sharon (Elder Louis) Blevins, all of Mansfield; Alexis Selmon, of Kennesaw, GA, and Thomasine Wallace, of Canton, Ohio; three brothers, Herman Earl (Terri) Jones, of Columbus, Ohio, Thomas L. Jones, of Kennesaw, GA, and Jerome Jones, of Canton, Ohio; an uncle, James Ferebee, of Mansfield, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jasmine Davis, of Memphis, Tenn and Terrance Deener, Emporia, KS; a great-grandson, Tremaine Coleman; special friend, Mother Betty Williams, of Mansfield and special son, Onray Elliot Smoot, of Mansfield; goddaughter, Joy Holmes-Harris and godson, Ryan Ray; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents, Malachi Jones and Persephone Marie Miller-Jones; brother, Malachi Jones Jr. The services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 11 a.m., with one hour prior calling at Maddox Memorial COGIC, 1148 Walker Lake Rd., Mansfield, Ohio, with Elder Aaron Williams Sr. officiating. The burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the home of her niece Marie Jones-Williams, 1010 Pearce Dr., Mansfield, Ohio, until the day of the services.
