Joycelyn V Morr

MANSFIELD — Joycelyn Virginia (Hall) Morr, 95, of Mansfield, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, March 22, 2025, at home. She was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Mansfield, daughter of the now-deceased Virginia (Hall) Thompson and Carl Groppe, and resided in Mansfield her entire life. Joycelyn attended Mansfield City Schools and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1947. She worked as a secretary at Westinghouse, as a switchboard operator for doctors, and as a clerical worker at Ritters office supply store. She married Harry W. Morr on Sept. 21, 1946, in Covington, Ky., and they enjoyed more than 67 years of marriage prior to his passing on July 12, 2014. Joycelyn and her husband were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses on July 28, 1949. She enjoyed sharing her Bible-based beliefs with others, especially by writing letters with encouraging Bible verses — six days a week in recent years. She also enjoyed gathering with fellow believers and attending congregation meetings, mostly through a videoconference provision after 2019. Her perseverance in the face of advanced age and illness was inspiring to many. Though quiet, Joycelyn was witty and very hospitable. She very much loved her family members and enjoyed following their spiritual pursuits and adventures from afar. She was appreciative, dependable and loyal. She is survived by five children and their spouses, William and Karen Morr of Norwalk, Genevieve and Richard Akam of Ashland, Timothy and Renee Morr of Louisville, Ky., Kimberly and Robert Byers of Mansfield, and Pamela and Valentin Vazquez of Norwalk; eight grandchildren, Julie (Tony) Irovando of Valrico, Fla., Jodie (Matt) Roche of Norwalk, Jill (Jamie) Spildener of Berea, Monet (Chad) Wessels of Fishkill, N.Y., Mark (Lynnette) Morr of Louisville, Ky., Keith (Tiffany) Akam of Vermilion, Kaitlyn Zuniga of Akron, and Benjamin Vazquez of Norwalk; 13 great-grandchildren, Madeline (Jamin) Anderson of Kardinya, Western Australia, Valerie, Elaina and Ariel Roche, all of Norwalk, Zachary Irovando (fiancée Mary McNally) of St. Louis, Ashley Irovando of Orlando, Fla., Hailey, Dean, Kenleigh, Jordan and Lily Jean, all of Vermilion, and Tyler, Joshua and Aaleigha, all of Louisville, Ky.; and nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ralph “Tommy” Thompson. The Memorial Services will be held April 19, 2025, at 4:30 pm, with one-hour prior calling to the services at the Kehoe Center, 175 Mansfield Avenue, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
