Clara Lee Moore

Mansfield: Clara L. Moore was born Saturday, March 25, 1933 to the late Walter L. Brown, Sr. and Irene (Bowmen) Brown in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Clara lived in Mansfield for the past 65 years. She became employed with Fusco Cleaners and later worked at Dominion Electric and she retired from (CAP) Community Action Program as Director of Transportation. Clara became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she met and married Nathaniel Moore and celebrated 62 years of marriage on July 30 2015. Clara loved her husband, children, her family and her Church family. She had several hobbies, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, bowling and shopping. Everyone knows that she loved to sing and had a voice like an angel! Clara was a faithful member Shiloh until she could no longer attend the services. She proudly served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Senior Choir and later the Robist under the Minister of Music, Sidney Brown, Jr. her nephew. Clara along with two brothers and a sister formed the original Brown Singers. Which later included Archie Washington, Mary McDonald, Sarah Bonds, and Robert Whitfield, Sr.. One of her proudest moments was June 13, 2012, when she was consecrated as a Church Mother. Clara is survived by her three children, LaVerne (Sylvester) Wellington, Sr., and Nathaniel Moore, Jr of Mansfield, OH. Teena (Michael) Gamble of Atlanta, GA and a special son Ronald Taylor of Brownsville, TN. Six Godchildren, Theresa (Daphne) Thompkins, Joyce Torrence-Ali, Rayna Hutcherson, Traci Mask, Aubreyanna Johnson, and Delmar Brown. Ten grandchildren, Temika Moore of Stone Mountain, GA., Robert Romario (Felicia) Moore, Sr., of Morrow, GA, Sylvester (Laura) Wellington, Jr. of Mansfield, OH, Nykedia (Shelton) Young of Waldorf, MD, Jasmine Moon-Woodbury of Atlanta, GA, Trebony Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Keelo Jackson of Los Angeles, CA, Mike Gamble of Thousand Oaks, CA and Gideon Gamble of Santo Domingo, DR. Fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother Elder Sidney (Marie) Brown, Sr., two sisters-n-law Dallas Moore of Union Point, GA. Beulah Moore of Cincinnati, OH and two brothers in law, Charlie (Eddie) Moore, Springfield, NY, and Rev. William (Alma) Ferrell, Sr. of Washington, GA; and a very special friend Mary McDonald of Mansfield, OH and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Clara was preceded in death by her husband Nathaniel Moore, Sr., one daughter, Traci Moore, one granddaughter Yolanda Wellington, three sister’s Rose DeCosta, Lola Thorn, Francis Green and four brothers, Percy Sr., Emanuel (Mack) Sr., Anderson Sr., Harold and W.L Brown, Jr. Her children would like to acknowledge several people who helped care for Mom over the years, Mrs. Mary Patton, Joann Parks and Shana(VNA). Thank you for your love, time and support in caring for our Mother. Celebration of Life will be held on her birthday Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 130 E. Second Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902. By her Pastor, Bishop William Morris, Jr. with services at 11:00 AM and viewing one hour prior to service. The interment will be held Monday, March 27, 2017, the family will gather at 10:45 at the front entrance of the Mansfield Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the home of her daughter beginning Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM., daily, until the day of the services. The family has entrusted Small’s Funeral Services with the arrangements.
